Edina
Karen Jacobsen
Karen Jacobsen; ©2007 Kurly Queen (SESAC)

Edina's only three years old
I want to protect her heart of gold
But all I can do is one small part
To help her father
Help her mother
Edina's only three years old

Edina's very far away
We're gonna be face to face one day
I have to see her eyes with mine
And meet her father
Meet her mother
Edina's very far away

So in my choice to give
I'll watch her grow
And through our cards and letters
Get to know the kind of life she wants
And help her reach her dreams

Edina's only three years old
I want to protect her heart of gold
But all I can do is one small part
To help her father
Help her mother
Edina's only three years old

Long Way Home
Amy Fairchild
Amy Fairchild; ©2007 So Fair Music
From Amy Fairchild:  She's Not Herself

I live in a room on Main Street
Three flights above passers by
The traffic begins at 7:00 am when morning lights up the sky
I worked as a musical waitress
That was three years ago
Now I count on my songs to get me along
And you know that's a long row to hoe

My brother worked for the circus
Watches her fly through the air
Can't pay his rent so he lives in a tent
On the camping ground at the fair

He calls collect from Cleveland
Says the circus life is not for me
I'm going out west and I'll try my best to write home regularly

It's a long way home when you've learned how to run away
It's a long way home

My sister she lived Down Under
Married the man of her dreams
Now she's flying back home on a plane all alone
Coming apart at the seams

She liked the idea of marriage
She wanted to have and to hold
The time just seemed right when he asked her that night
Now the idea's grown old

It's a long way home

My parents live in a suburb
Parking spaces for two
Extra room for the kids when the come home to live
When they don't know what else to do

My mom she works with children
My father he councils their dads
They live all alone in a really nice home
They say it's the nicest they've had

It's a long way home

This Is Home
Lucy Kaplansky
Lucy Kaplansky and Richard Litvin; ©2002 Lucyricky Music (ASCAP) Administered by Bug Music.  (p) Red House Records
From Lucy Kaplansky:  The Red Thread

When I found you I knew that you'd be mine
It wasn't my first kiss, it wasn't my first time
It was the first time I gave my heart when it wasn't just a loan
I put it in your hands and I followed you home

Now I'm on the interstate wishing I could sleep
I see you lying in our bed, you're waiting up for me
And while I'm taking in the view I'm wishing I could give you what I wanted to
You know I want it too

This is home, where I want to be
This is home, let's make a family
Baby you and me
Baby you and me

She's lying on a bed in some crowded room
Trying to sleep, not much else to do
The faces change around her, they speak to her sometimes
She's getting used to being left behind

When we find her, we'll belong to her
We won't see her first smile, we won't hear her first word
But ours will be the first hearts she holds in her hands
She can keep them beside her in her very own room

This is home, where I want to be
This is home, let's make a family
Baby you and me
Baby you and me

Who We Are
Brooke Ramel
Brooke Ramel and Johnny Pierce; ©2000 Little Notes Publishing (BMI) / TinselTenn Publishing (BMI)
From Brooke Ramel:  Make Tomorrow Up

I've been falling down
I've been lost but now I'm found
The blackness before sunrise
Is there to wake me to realize that

Tomorrow can bring sunshine
Someday we'll find happiness and our
Sorrows will melt behind us
Love will guide us
Back to who we are

Can you feel the magic?
I saw starlight in your eyes
Fly me through the rain so I can
Feel the shower, love is power

Rising higher
White wings gliding, riding
Lighter, faster
Hearing children's laughter

Find My Way Back
Martha Byrne
Martha Byrne and Jennifer Marks; ©2005 MMB Music (BMI) / Miss Mayhem Music (BMI)
From Martha Byrne:  The Other Side

You had the bluest eyes
A stare I'd memorize
Like a sacred prayer
You didn't' have much to say
But I listened anyway
I could see right through
I held on
For so long
'Cause somehow I knew

Like a breath of air
You were always there
And I will find my way back
Even on my own
You are my home
And I will find my way back

I know you so well
There are things I'll never tell
Now your secret's safe
I've been walking next to you
What you want I want it too
Now just take my hand
Time may be broken
But we are strong

Like a breath of air
You were always there
And I will find my way back
And wherever I go
You are my soul
And I will find my way back
To you

You could turn on me
You could run away
But no matter what you do
I'll always be in love with you

Like a breath of air
You were always there
And I will find my way back
Even on my own
You are my home
And I will find my way back

Like a breath of air
You were always there
And I will find my way back
And wherever you go
You're in my soul
And you will find your way back
And you will find your way back
And I will find my way back

James River
Jan Smith
Jan Smith; ©2005 Honey Bird Music (BMI)
From Jan Smith:  29 Dances

Folks here know when they see the witch hazel grow
Winter is leaving town
It feels so strange, how the winds can change
Oh how they blow me around

All I've found that's certain is the sea and all of this hurting
But I'd like to hold on to you
Pretend it ain't so, pretend we'll never go
When that is just what we do

You have to admire the believers who aspire
To grow gardens on the roof
The patches of grass that push their way past
Concrete like some sort of proof
Of life

At the first warm wind I will go down to the bend
Of the James River
If it feels like home, I won't ever roam
I will surely live there

Folks here know when they see the witch hazel grow
Winter is leaving town
It feels so strange, how the winds can change
Oh how they blow me around

Bitter
Julia Macklin
Julia Macklin; ©1998 Julia Macklin
From Julia Macklin:  Julia Macklin

Earth and water
Brick and mortar
My aching heart

Up above me
Never changing
Are you sad?
Do you love me?

Staring outside
The darkening sky
The telephone rings

I turn out the lights
Listen to the
Wind in the trees

Alone I own you
And call you home now

Earth and water
Brick and mortar
My aching heart

Natalia Zukerman
Natalia Zukerman; ©2006 Talisman Records (BMI)
From Natalia Zukerman:  Only One

When she talks
When she talks
It's barely about a whisper
And when she walks
When she walks
The ground seems to dance beneath her

When she sang
When she sang
You had no choice but to love her
And when she smiled
When she smiled
The clouds would part in the sky above her

And it looked like something that you'd always known
And it would feel just like coming home

When she was born
When she was born
The heavens surely missed her
For as she lay dying
As she lay dying
She said there were angels there to receive her
She said, "Oh it looks like something that I've always known."
She said, "I feel like coming home."
Maybe this love is all I'll ever know
Maybe I will never find my way home
But if this love is all I will ever know
I have already found my way home

No Going Home
Sarah Lentz
Sarah Lentz; ©1999 Sarah Lentz (ASCAP)
From Sarah Lentz:  No Going Home

Wonderfully made, fearfully sewn,
Who would have known you'd not be my own?
Player with fire and dancer alone
Will you desire me when you're grown?
When you're grown, when you're grown

Careful with that, the edges are burned
I should be glad, this is how I learned
You're a player with fire and dancer alone
Will you desire me when you're grown?
When you're grown, when you're grown

Each time you close your eyes
You will open them to find all the things I've loved and hated
And you'll know everywhere your legs will take you
Your arms will follow you too

Arms that once held us so close
There's no going home
Not from this one, there's no going home

Player with fire and dancer alone
Will you desire me when you're grown?

I don't know, I wish I did, but I don't know

But I know this
That each time you close your eyes
You will open them to find all the things I've loved and hated
And you'll know everywhere your legs will take you
Your arms will follow you too

Arms that once held us so close
There's no going home
Not from this one, there's no going home
Player with fire

When I Come Home
Marina V
Marina Verenikina and Nick Baker; ©2005 Crazy Apples Worldwide (ASCAP)
From Marina V:  Simple Magic

My heart is beating fast
I'm going home today
I sit and watch the clock
Waiting for my plane
But I'm scared to leave
Is not a fear of flight
Seems like a life-long dream
Since we said goodbye

Will I know it's you
Or will I pass you buy
Will I know the truth
When I see your eyes
Will I be alone
When I come home

So has it been too long
Will you want me back
Or did the parted sea
Drown what we once had
I'm like a falling leaf
To new, familiar skies
I'm reaching for my tree
But drifting out of sight

When I come home
Will you still be there?

Kellee Bradley
Kellee Bradley; ©2005 In A Big Way Music (ASCAP)
From Kellee Bradley:  Waiting

Just when I think I've got all the answers
Life shakes the eight-ball and changes everything
And when I get too high
Someone's always standing by
With a needle but no net to bring me down again

How do I explain about you
Against all odds you love me like you do
Through all the ups and downs
And the crazy winding roads
Somehow you bring me home

Every day seems a little shorter
And I'm not sure what I know
I just know I'm getting older
So I focus on the real things and what I know is true
Like my love for my music my family and you

Home some people never find it
Home it's the place where I can hide
And the reason I don't drown
When the world flips me upside down
Is because I'm not alone
You bring me home

Gloria
Kate Klim
Kate Klim; ©2006 Kate Klim (BMI)
From Kate KlimUp And Down And Up Again

Ever grain, every ember, every piece of home
You never go back, you only remember
The good and the bad you've known
Every day, it passed like a lifetime, for all of the joy we found
There was always the flame of somebody's temper
'Til Gloria one day you had to get out

Sometimes we make it, sometimes we don't
But it's harder to take it when you're so far from home
Oh so throw down your pride 'cause that chip in your shoulder
It'll only get wider as we're getting older
And we'll save a place for you at the table

Every frame, every picture, every stone we laid
It isn't the same, you feel like a stranger
And you try to find some sleep in side this bed you've made

Sometimes we make it, sometimes we don't
But it's harder to take it when you're so far from home
Oh so throw down your pride 'cause that chip in your shoulder
It'll only get wider as we're getting older
And we'll save a place for you at the table

Gloria, it's time
Gloria, it's time
Ever grain, every ember, every piece of home
You never go back, you only remember, you never let go
Never let go

Carry You Home
Lizanne Knott (with Phil Roy)
Lizanne Knott; ©2002 Lizanne Knott Run-Around Music (ASCAP)
From Lizanne Knott:  Limited Edition

The world is a crazy place when no one is by your side
And all that you've tried to embrace
Is only a lie
When there's nothing left to believe here at the end of the day
Baby hold on to me and know I have prayed
I prayed for the sun on your face
I prayed for the moon in your nights
I prayed that all things in their place are giving you light
And all through your longest days
Through even the darkest of storms
I'm rowing my boat on the sea
To carry you home, to carry you home

Something keeps calling you, a voice on the summer wind
There's nothing you will do
To chance it again
There's always a remedy for things that you can not have
Bringing you to your knees
When you could just dance
So dance with the sun on your face
And dream with the moon in your nights
Know that all things in their place are giving you light
And all through your longest days
Through even the darkest of storms
I'm rowing my boat on the sea
To carry you home, to carry you home

Rita
Kathy Phillips
Kathy Phillips, Kim Williams, and Matt Angus; ©2006 Vega Vibes Music (BMI) / West Main Music (BMI) / Tippin' The Cow Music (BMI)
From Kathy Phillips:  Carries You Away

Rita, she's an acrobat
Flying over circus cats
If she falls, she doesn't get paid
She'll tell you she's in trapeze art
Under lights she pays the part
She's a freak in her own kind of way

Rita, she can get some height
In her mind she's taking flight
Right out of this place
When she smiles at the crowd
Loves to hear them cheer so loud
Gets her through another day

Thinks of the folks back home
Cause here she feels alone

At night she's drinking with the clowns
To see if she can wipe the frowns
Right off of their face
And when all the lights go down
Heading for another town
Going home in a strange kind of way

So many years gone by
Memories fade in time
Here in her traveling home
She knows that she's not alone
She knows she's not alone
She's home, now she is home

Take Me Home
Mare Wakefield
Mare Wakefield; ©2005 Mare Wakefield Maresie Music (BMI)
From Mare Wakefield:  Take Me Home

You moved your own mountains you parted your own sea
You made so many enemies, but you made a friend out of me
And you were so beautiful, you were the one
You were washed by the rain, warmed by the sun
You were everything I thought I would need

But empty brown bottles, I won't cry over you I won't cry over you
Still when you ask me, I cannot refuse
Take me home take me home take me home take me all the way home
Take me home take me home take me home take me all the way home

And man I remember how you played that guitar
You made all the girls cry, you made all the boys look from the bar
And you were so beautiful, blew me away
With the notes you would sing, the words you would say
You were everything I wanted to be

But cast away needles, I won't cry over you I won't cry over you
Yet there's still one thing I need you to do

Take me home take me home take me home take me all the way home
Take me home take me home take me home take me all the way home
